SIAMS Exhibition
Every two years the SIAMS exhibition takes place in Moutier, Switzerland – and there’s no better place in the world to see the latest innovations for sliding head turning and small part machining. As expected, most of our technology partners presented their new innovations. The show coincided with a special event organised by Applitec SA, one of our suppliers of high-end insert tooling and carbide saws.
Despite the calendar clash with MACH 2024 exhibition, Richard Floyd represented Floyd Automatic at SIAMS – before returning to catch the last few days of MACH. The SIAMS exhibition was very well attended, and it was an opportunity to meet with our many partner suppliers exhibiting at this event. With lots of new product lines on show, we’ll have plenty of new technologies to present to our valued UK customers in the coming months.
Applitec Dealer Event
Coinciding with SIAMS was an Applitec Dealer Event that welcomed technology partners from around the world. This year, Floyd Automatic celebrated 20 years of collaboration with Applitec, and this milestone was recognised and celebrated with Applitec and other technology partners. Applitec is one of our high-end partners that manufacture and supply high-quality external and internal turning tools, carbide saws, modular tooling solutions and much more.
During the event, we toured the new Applitec logistics facility that opened in 2022. The new facility boasts an automated storage and retrieval system that greatly improves the integration and automation from receipt of purchase orders to dispatch – making sure you get your tools on time!
The main production factory has expanded too. It now houses over 100 grinding machines that are all fully equipped with robot loading technology. This expansion was required to meet the increasing demand for the Applitec Swiss Tooling family of inserts and holders.
Since we started our journey with Applitec, we have delivered thousands of standard and special tooling solutions that have delivered for UK manufacturers where others could not. With a history steeped in micro-machining solutions for the most challenging of industry sectors, we are proud to celebrate this milestone – long may it continue!
Medical Solutions
As part of our trip to Switzerland to visit SIAMS and Applitec, we also received presentations on some of the new products coming along the pipeline. One of these new products is the new range of SF-X inserts
Developed for the TOP-WATCH and TOP-LINE turning programs, the Applitec SF-X inserts have innovative new geometries developed to overcome the problems of poor swarf control on lead-free brass and similar materials.
